The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs
One
day a farmer was walking by his barn when he heard a loud
cackling and squawking. Rushing in, he saw that his goose
had laid a shining golden egg. The next day the same thing
happened, and the next. The farmer was growing rich. But
the richer he got, the greedier he became. “Why wait?”
he thought. “I’ll kill the goose and get all her
eggs at once.” Imagine how he felt when he opened up
the goose and found no eggs at all.
