The ice cubes in warm water melt faster than those in cold water. When something warm touches something cool, heat moves from the wa tm object or fluid into the cool one. In Sarena's experiment, heat flows from the warm water into the ice, causing the ice to melt quickly. The ice in the cool water is also melting, but is melting slowly because there is less heat.
