The Reversing Arrow   The Reversing Arrow

Draw an arrow on an index card and lean the card against a wall as shown. Put an empty clear drinking glass 3 to 12 inches in front of it and fill the glass with water. When you look through the glass, the arrow will appear to be pointing to the left.


Explanation
When you pour water into the glass, the water takes the curved shape of the glass, creating a lens. This lens bends the rays of light so that the image you see is reversed.
