Weddell
World Seal Camp
|
Dear Friend,
From
McMurdo I rode a snowmobile for an hour over sea ice to
reach the seal-research camp called Weddell World. I joined
seven scientists who are hard at work learning how and
what Weddell seals hunt. The scientists live in a long,
low building called a Jamesway, which is set up temporarily
on top of the six-foot-thick ice. Although this camp has
computers and is connected to the Internet, its only bathroom
is the unheated outhouse on the left side of this pictureBBRRRR!
Your
friend,
Bob
