How to Make It:

  1. Cut a small piece from thick cardboard. Use a hole punch to make a hole in the top center.

  2. Cover the cardboard with torn strips of white paper towels that have been dipped in a mixture that is half water and half white glue. Be sure to smooth out all air bubbles. Keep adding layers until the pendant is about one-eighth inch thick. With an adult’s help, poke through the paper towels with a needle to expose the hole.

  3. Let the pendant dry completely. Then smooth the surface with sandpaper.

  4. Tear shapes from colored tissue paper. Glue them to the dry pendant, using a paintbrush and a fresh mixture of water and glue. When dry, add any decorative lines or dots with permanent marker.

  5. To protect the design, paint the front and edges of the pendant with clear nail polish. When dry, paint the back side with the polish.

  6. Finish by stringing the pendant on cord or ribbon.
