What You’ll Need:
- scissors
- lightweight colorful paper
- glue
- long wooden handle
- skein of yarn
- beads or feathers
- nontoxic water-base sealant

How to Make It:
-
Cut 1-inch strips from lightweight colorful paper, such as napkins, tissue paper, crepe paper, or newspaper comics.
-
Apply glue to one section of a wooden handle from an old broomstick, rake, or shovel. (Ask an adult for permission before selecting a handle.) Smooth the paper strips on the glue. Repeat this until the entire stick is covered with strips.
-
After the glue dries, tie the end of a skein of yarn around the top of the stick. Wrap the yarn around until the top 6 inches of the stick are covered. Tie the yarn in place, and cut it from the skein. If you wish, leave 6 inches of yarn hanging from the handle, and decorate it with beads or feathers.
-
If youd like to waterproof your stick, apply a coat of nontoxic water-base sealant.
