How to Make It:

  1. Glue scrap fabric to cardboard tubes: four short tubes with shirt fabric (two for each arm); two long tubes with pants fabric (for legs); one long tube with the shirt fabric on the upper half and with pants fabric on the lower half (for the body); and one short tube with fabric for the face.

  2. To attach the two sections of each arm at the elbow, make a hole in one end of each. Thread yarn through the holes. Cut and knot the yarn.

  3. Make a hole near the top of each arm, another near the top of the body on each side, and one near the bottom of the head on each side. Attach them by threading yarn through the holes. Cut and knot the yarn.

  4. Attach the legs to the body in the same way.

  5. Cut out features, gloves, and clothes decorations from felt. Cut hair from yarn. Glue all in place.

  6. Craft ImageTo make each boot, glue a short cardboard tube flat. When dry, cut out the boot, as shown.

  7. Glue felt over the boots. Cover the lower few inches of each leg with the same color felt. Glue a boot to each leg. Let dry.

  8. Cut a 1 1/2-inch section of cardboard tube for the hat. Cover the top and sides with felt. Glue a 3 1/2-inch felt circle to the bottom. Let dry.

  9. Squeeze the top of the hat together from the sides. Release it, and put glue in the grooves made by squeezing it. Then squeeze it again, and hold it together with a clothespin until dry. Put glue on the hat brim and curl it up. Secure it with pushpins until it’s dry. Glue on a hatband. Then glue the hat to the head.
