What You’ll Need:
- scissors
- ruler
- paper
- glue
- markers
- wiggle eyes
How to Make It:
-
Cut a 2 1/2-inch-by-7-inch strip of paper. Fold it in half lengthwise.
-
Cut the folded strip diagonally. Unfold the strip. The paper should form a tall triangle.

-
Fold each side of the triangle to slightly overlap the center crease, as shown in the diagram at the right. Unfold them.
-
Refold the triangle along the center crease. Starting an inch in from the wide end, use scissors to make snips along the folded edge.Snip only as far as the crease that is on each side. See diagram at right. Unfold the strip.
-
Refold each side of the triangle
to overlap the center crease, as in step 3. Glue the
sides together where they overlap. This is the underside
of the newt. -
To form the head, use scissors to round the wide end.
-
Cut out four legs from paper. Glue them to the underside of the newt. Use markers to decorate the newt. Glue on wiggle eyes.
