How to Make It:

  1. Fold a 9-inch-by-11½-inch piece of blue construction paper in half. On the front, glue a Hanukkah greeting to the left side and a paper menorah to the right side.

  2. Glue a cut-paper flame shape above the middle candle. Above each other candle, cut a ½-inch flame shape through the top layer of paper.

  3. Cut a 4½-inch-by-1½-inch strip from yellow paper. Cut a 5-inch-by-1½-inch strip from blue paper. Glue them end to end for a long strip. Glue the long strip to poster board, then cut around it.

  4. For a pocket, cut a 9-inch-by-2-inch strip of paper. Open the card. Place the strip over the flame-shaped openings (see diagram below). With a thin layer of glue, affix the strip along the top, bottom, and left edges. (Leave the right side unglued.) Let it dry.

  5. Put the long strip in the pocket, yellow end first. Pull the tab to “light” a candle each day of Hanukkah.
