What You’ll Need:
- construction paper
- glue
- scissors
- ruler
- poster board
How to Make It:
-
Fold a 9-inch-by-11½-inch piece of blue construction paper in half. On the front, glue a Hanukkah greeting to the left side and a paper menorah to the right side.
-
Glue a cut-paper flame shape above the middle candle. Above each other candle, cut a ½-inch flame shape through the top layer of paper.
-
Cut a 4½-inch-by-1½-inch strip from yellow paper. Cut a 5-inch-by-1½-inch strip from blue paper. Glue them end to end for a long strip. Glue the long strip to poster board, then cut around it.
-
For a pocket, cut a 9-inch-by-2-inch strip of paper. Open the card. Place the strip over the flame-shaped openings (see diagram below). With a thin layer of glue, affix the strip along the top, bottom, and left edges. (Leave the right side unglued.) Let it dry.
-
Put the long strip in the pocket, yellow end first. Pull the tab to “light” a candle each day of Hanukkah.

Variations:
Make Advent candles for a Christmas card or a kinara for a Kwanzaa greeting.
