How to Make It:

  1. Do this project outdoors on a calm day! Cover the work surface with a thick layer of newspaper. It’s best to wear old clothes and shoes.

  2. Place a sheet of plain paper on the work surface.

  3. Pour about one inch of liquid bubbles or dishwashing liquid into two small containers, such as clean margarine tubs or laundry detergent caps.

  4. Add approximately one-half teaspoon of liquid food coloring to each container, using a different color for each. Stir with a bubble wand to mix in the color well, rinsing the wand between colors.

  5. Dip the bubble wand into a container and blow bubbles toward the paper from about one to two feet away. (Not all will land on the paper.) To catch any drips, hold the wand over the container when blowing bubbles.

  6. Continue blowing bubbles onto the paper until it is about half-filled with the popped-bubble decoration. Then rinse the wand and blow bubbles of the other color.

  7. When you are satisfied, set the paper aside to dry. The painting can be a piece of art on its own, or you can use bubble-painting to make gift-wrap, bookcovers, or notepaper for yourself or for gifts.
