What You’ll Need:
- cardboard
- ruler
- scissors
- 12-cup egg carton
- markers
- two single-serving cereal boxes
- colored paper
- glue
- pennies, buttons, dried beans, or pebbles
- paint
How to Make It:
Cut out a 4-inch-by-15-inch piece of cardboard.
Mancala is known as wari in Ghana, where this game was made.Cut off and discard the top of a 12-cup egg carton. Cut the flap off the base. Use markers to decorate the base.
Cut off the top from two single-serving cereal boxes so that the bottom of each is 1¼ inches high. Cover them with colored paper.
Glue the egg-carton base in the center of the cardboard with one cereal-box bottom at each end.
For counters, use 48 pennies, buttons, dried beans, or pebbles. If you wish, paint them. (The colors of the counters don’t matter.)
