Sleepover
Choices
My friend is having a sleepover party. She invited me, but not
my best friend. If I don't go to the party my friend will be sad,
but if I do go my best friend will be really mad at me and feel
left out. Should I go?

We understand that you feel you’re in an awkward position.
However, there is probably a limit to the number of people your
friend is allowed to invite to her party, and it would be impossible
to include all of the friends of her friends. There will be many
times when you and your best friend will be invited separately
to something.
All
friends are important. Perhaps you can accept the invitation to
the sleepover, and then explain to your best friend that your
going to the party does not change your friendship with her. You
can’t control the way she will react, but you should feel
free to enjoy many friends, not just her.
Be
sure to discuss this situation with your parents, too. They will
probably have some good ideas on how you can handle this problem
without hurting anyone’s feelings.
We
hope this helps you make a decision.
Best
wishes,
